For some Mardi Gras revelers here in Mobile, drinking is part of the celebration. But too much liquor can cost you cash and your freedom. Perhaps even more disastrous, you could hurt … and I mean seriously hurt … another person.

- Party with a group. Aside from hopefully having a non-drinking designated driver, a group can often stop you from making some seriously poor decisions.
- Remember, drunk driving in our state is taken seriously no matter the time of year. Even a first-time offense can lead to thousands of dollars in fines, possible jail time, and suspension of your driver’s license.
I love our city, and I love Mardi Gras. Celebration is what Mardi Gras is all about. Just don’t be the fool. You don’t want to look back on his holiday as one of the worst of your life.
